A Zombie: the body of a dead person given the semblance of life, but mute and will-less, by a supernatural force, usually for some evil purpose.
We’ve all heard the stories, seen the movies and at one point or another imagined the world being taken over by Zombies (well at least those as strange as me have) I remember watching various zombie themed movies and wondering to myself; What would I do? Where would I go? How would I survive?
My fiancé and I often joke when watching movies based on these creatures about creating an emergency zombie survival kit. So I thought what better blog entry for an early Wednesday morning then some helpful websites and tips to surviving a Zombie attack.
Step by Step survival tips available at >> http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Survive-a-Zombie-Invasion-1/
Here is some suggestions for survival kit items http://coolmaterial.com/cool-list/essential-gear-to-survive-zombie-attack/
While it is hard to be prepared if I did have a survival kit laid out this would be what it would contain;
1. Weapons; It’s good to have a short list stored away in the back of your mind of household items that you can obtain and turn into useful Zombie killing instruments if the situation ever occurred.
2. A first aid kit; this would need your basics at least- bandages, disinfectant, cotton swaps, scissors, tweezers, medical tape etc.
3. Torches, batteries, matches, walkie talkies; Night fall + no light + no way to communicate with those with you+ the possibility of a Zombie standing right behind you = lower chance of survival
4. Basic camping gear; this includes a sleeping bag, pocket knife, flint, camping utensils, water purification tablets etc- no matter where you are hiding have a basic camping pack with you can come in handy.
5. Food and Water; a given really- you need them to keep your strength up and ultimately to survive. Non perishable foods are best in the long run but fresher things will work at first. In terms of water, if the water is not the source of any infection then just having a collection of water bottles or containers available would be effective. If it is however a source, you better hope you had some bottled water laying around or readily available.
6. Transport and Petrol; To survive your best off leaving densely populated areas, and the quickest way to do this is with a vehicle- something big, sturdy and reliable (and if you can reinforced). Be sure to have extra petrol with you though, last thing you want is to run out and be stranded with no possible hiding places.
7. Maps and possible hideout locations; If you’re going to try and get away from the big city you should have some kind of idea as to where you’re going to head. Having a few hideout possibilities is handy in case option A or B or C for that matter falls to close to Zombie territory. I suggest locations out of populated centres but in a close enough distance that if needed scouting parties could venture out for supplies...if you’ve survived that long.
And finally 8. Good Shoes; why you may ask? Well if Zombies attack it in inevitable you will be running away ALOT, so it’s best to have a good pair of solid, durable comfortable shoes that are appropriate for any Zombie situation you may find yourself in.
However, it has been mathematically determined (see http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/08/zombies/) that inevitably the spread of the Zombie plague will eradicate the humans as we are now. Although it is suggested if we act quickly enough we may be able to stop the infection spreading....
But personally I think the most likely result, if the world was ever under a zombie attack, would be, that eventually we would all die, and Zombies would take their place at the top of the food chain and rule the world!
Bwhahaha x.
